Thut

Since the 1950s, Thut has been designing furniture and interior fittings that respond to changing living situations. The Swiss manufacturer became renowned for designs by Kurt Thut such as the extendable «Scheren-Bett 990», the «Scheren-Tisch 500» or the folding screens made of fabric-covered wooden slats, which are still made to measure today and are also used as floor-to-ceiling partitions for alcoves and storage spaces without the need for a cabinet frame. Many designs were created as a counterpoint to the heavy furniture ranges of the post-war period, focusing instead on thin materials, mobility and structural precision.

In 2009, Thut was awarded the Swiss Grand Prix Design. Thut shares a long history with teo jakob: as early as 1955, Kurt Thut designed the new showroom at Gerechtigkeitsgasse 25 in Bern. To this day, teo jakob integrates Thut furniture and folding screen systems into living and working spaces with bespoke storage solutions.
