Röthlisberger
Röthlisberger has been producing furniture and interior fittings in its own joinery workshop in Gümligen, near Bern, since 1928. The family-run business gained international renown with the Röthlisberger Collection, launched in 1977, which was initiated by teo jakob and continues to this day to bring together designs by Trix and Robert Haussmann, atelier oï, Alfredo Häberli, Hanspeter Steiger and Moritz Schmid. Among the best-known pieces of furniture are the Haussmanns «Rolladen Sideboard» and the «Schubladenstapel» by Susi and Ueli Berger, produced since 1982, which is now part of the collection at the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich.
teo jakob’s «Ovaltisch», which is still in production today, is also part of the collection. Hanspeter Steiger’s «torsio» seating series utilises the torsion of moulded plywood to create a flexible backrest, thereby responding directly to the body of the person sitting. teo jakob designs Röthlisberger furniture and bespoke joinery solutions for homes, offices and public buildings throughout Switzerland.
