Precisely planned furnishings are essential for working environments, conference, hospitality and care areas. Since 1950, teo jakob has been supporting companies in creating functional and durable spaces. We consistently follow a four-step process; from analysis to realisation.
Analysis
Whether administration facilities, educational facilities or co-working spaces: Each space has specific requirements regarding usage, atmosphere and organisation. A thorough analysis forms the basis for every project. In addition to a precise assessment of type of space, infrastructure and equipment, work processes, acoustic conditions, lighting and material usage are also reviewed. In workshops or on-site visits, a clear picture of the spatial, organisational, and aesthetic requirements emerges – documented in a requirements specification that serves as a decision-making basis for the concept, schedule and budget.
Concept
Based on the requirements, an integrated spatial concept is developed that unites function, identity and design. Furniture, lighting concepts, material selection, acoustics and technical aspects such as bespoke pieces or scalable systems without structural modifications are harmonised with one another. Change management processes, accessibility and fire safety regulations are also taken into account from the outset. Mood boards, visualisations and material samples define the design more precisely.
Planning
Based on the concept, the details are refined: room layout, products, colours and textures are defined, plans and bills of materials are created. teo jakob coordinates tenders, reviews quotations, plans delivery logistics and obtains the necessary permits. The focus is on transparent cost management, realistic scheduling and optimal co-ordination with internal and external partners – from interior architecture to lighting and acoustics planning, up to and including the engagement of experts in specialised crafts.
Realisation
The logistics centres in Bern, Zurich and Geneva ensure reliable execution: project management, delivery, installation and co-ordination of all parties involved. Adjustments, expansions and repairs to existing furnishings are also supported, as is professional removal and disposal.
Simon Flückiger
«I am observing a shift away from the purely functional toward the comfortable. However, this is only a visible consequence of a broader trend.»
– Simon Flückiger, CEO
Our Areas of Expertise
Office
Flexible working environments with ergonomic workstations, acoustic retreat spaces and various meeting formats are planned.
Care
For hospitals, rehabilitation centres and care homes, interiors are created that combine orientation, safety and a comfortable atmosphere.
Hospitality
For hotels, restaurants and lobbies, furniture, lighting, textiles and acoustics are tailored to workflows and the desired atmosphere.
Public
For schools, libraries, government offices and conference centres, we design robust and low-maintenance interiors in compliance with regulatory standards. Materiality, acoustics and ergonomics play a crucial role.
Diplomatic Spaces
For embassies, consulates and residences, we create interiors that combine function, security and prestige.
Real Estate
For model flats and reference rooms in real estate projects, we develop furniture and material concepts that support the architecture and usage.
Strategy
Not every change requires new furniture. Workshops and analyses show how areas can be used efficiently or distinct spaces can be redefined. Mock-up areas, real installations and material samples support decisions based on tangible spatial experiences.
Material Selection
Colours, fabrics, woods and technical components are assessed in conjunction with acoustics, light and architecture. Products from USM, Vitra, Fritz Hansen, Arper, Muuto, HAY, Brunner and Lapalma can be customised to individual requirements. Samples and material boards support project teams and corporate identity guidelines.
Collaborations
For larger projects, transparent quotations, sample selections and co-ordinated delivery concepts are provided. Showrooms and sampling areas are open to architects, interior architects and design specialists, enabling equal collaboration for all. Experience, manufacturer relationships and meticulous planning ensure successful calls for tenders and awarding of contracts.
