Lighting Design
Light influences spatial perception, orientation, and well-being. teo jakob’s Lighting Design Team develops solutions that take into account architectural structures as well as energy efficiency, usage patterns, and material effects. Precise lighting concepts for residential spaces and workspaces are developed at our locations in Zurich, Bern, Geneva, Winterthur, Zug and Lausanne.

Precise lighting concepts for residential spaces and workspaces are developed at our locations in Zurich, Bern, Geneva, Winterthur, Zug and Lausanne.
Lighting Solution
A lighting solution arises from asking how a space is used, what atmosphere is desired, and which existing furnishings need to be considered. Key factors are light quantity, distribution and efficiency, complemented by integration into control systems such as DALI or KNX. The formal quality of the luminaries, their materials and long-term durability are considered just as much as comfort and mood, and together they shape the result.
Lighting Concepts
The concept developed together with the clients defines how ambient brightness, targeted accents, and gentle transitions interact to make spaces easy to read. Colour temperature and colour rendering are selected to ensure that materials appear natural and zones are clearly defined. Simulations and 3D visualisations demonstrate at an early stage how light cones, shadows, and reflections change the spatial composition.
Light Studios
The light studios in Zurich, Bern, and Geneva showcase a wide variety of luminaries for different applications and allow the effect of light on various surfaces to be immediately experienced. In the additional areas of the showrooms, luminaries are installed in curated residential and workplace settings. Differences in reflection, shadow, and material depth become visible before a decision is taken. For complex projects, simulations and renderings are available, which are jointly coordinated with the Interior Design and Acoustics Teams.
Designer Luminaries
teo jakob presents luminaries from leading brands such as Baltensweiler, Flos, Foscarini and Louis Poulsen. The «PH» system by Poul Henningsen, such as the «PH Artichoke», produces a softly diffused light, while the LED luminaries of the «FEZ» series by Baltensweiler work with a clear lighting characteristic. Such models create targeted accents, support zoning, and complement existing furnishings. Masterpieces such as the «Wolkenlampe» (Cloud Lamp) by Susi and Ueli Berger broaden the range and impart a unique character to spaces.
Technical Aspects
Technical parameters such as colour rendering index, spectral distribution, and colour temperature determine how materials and dominant colours appear. Careful coordination ensures visual calm and a natural perception. New technologies are regularly evaluated. Human Centric Lighting is gaining in importance as dynamic lighting adapts to the time of day and takes health aspects into account.
Realisation
Projects are realised through close coordination between the Interior Architecture, Electrical Design and Installation Teams. Sampling, installation and programming are coordinated and documented. Lighting is understood as part of a spatial whole: It complements material selection, supports acoustic requirements, and connects functional and atmospheric aspects of a space.

All About Lighting
Lighting Scenarios
Dynamic lighting scenarios create precisely the atmosphere that guests expect in hospitality and gastronomy. In conference rooms and upmarket reception areas, they ensure a flexible presentation, clear orientation, and a striking impression. This ensures that every area is always suitable for the occasion, time of day, and use.
Functional Lighting
Functional lighting delivers precise, reliable lighting for safe operations in work environments in healthcare. In laboratories and scientific spaces, it supports focused work with optimal illumination and minimised glare. This results in lighting solutions that strengthen performance, quality, and compliance in everyday operations.
Scenographic Lighting
Scenographic lighting showcases spaces and guides the eye precisely to where an impact is made. In exhibition spaces, museums, and galleries, it highlights exhibits, creates depth, and supports the dramaturgy. On stages and in clubs, it creates atmosphere, rhythm, and a memorable experience.
Orientation Lighting
Orientation lighting ensures safety and clear path guidance in public spaces and spacious building areas. It structures zones, minimises uncertainty, and facilitates a smooth flow of people. This creates a coherent lighting concept that elegantly unites function and architecture.
Workplace Lighting
Workplace lighting provides clear visibility and focused concentration in offices, libraries, study and educational spaces. It reduces glare, facilitates ergonomic work and ensures consistent lighting conditions. This creates workplaces that sustainably strengthen performance and well-being.
Presentation Lighting
Presentation lighting deliberately showcases products and enhances their perception at the point of sale. In shops, boutiques, retail stores and car dealerships, it creates distinct accents, a high-quality material effect and a compelling customer experience. This turns every space into a stage for the brand and product range.
