Textiles

Whether bespoke curtains, carpets in desired sizes, bed linens, acoustic solutions or upholstery coverings for design classics: Textiles shape rooms through colour and texture. In the teo jakob showrooms in Zurich, Bern and Geneva, fabrics and carpets from leading brands can be experienced, as can curtains, throws and duvet covers integrated into the displays. Fabrics from Kvadrat, Création Baumann, Dedar, Christian Fischbacher, Kasthall, Kramis, Ruckstuhl and Walter Knoll are ready to be touched.

Areas of Application

Textiles regulate incoming light, structure spaces, provide privacy and reduce noise. In living spaces, curtains create a sense of comfort, separate rooms into areas and filter daylight; materials such as linen, cotton or softly draping blended fabrics influence the mood and quality of light. In offices, textile elements structure open spaces and improve acoustics, while in hotels and care facilities, flame-resistant and easy-care fabrics provide privacy and functional solutions. Planning and selection are tailored to the architectural context, intended use and applicable regulatory standards.

Material Selection

In the showrooms, there are extensive sample libraries with woven, fulled or tufted fabrics, leather, felt, technical textiles and sustainable materials. Colours, surfaces, gloss levels and tactile qualities are assessed in conjunction with light and furnishings. Curtain fabrics made of linen, wool, cotton, hemp or sound-absorbing textiles are tested directly within the space, as are patterns, textures and colour effects.

«Textiles offer endless possibilities, which is why we consider textile consultation as an experience: In our studios, you have access to comprehensive sample libraries with colours, materials and textures. You can borrow them, have bespoke samples created or visualise your ideas digitally together with our consultants and interior designers.»

– Barbara Zollinger, Textile Specialist

Customisation

Textile solutions are understood as precisely tailored elements of the spatial concept. Famous designs, such as a «Swan» chair by Fritz Hansen, a sofa or individual cushions, can be individually customised in terms of colour, fabric and finish. The wide selection of natural fibres, glossy fabrics, densely woven textures and fine blends allows for combinations that match architecture, furnishings and usage patterns.

Realisation

The concepts are realised through customised fabrication in collaboration with specialised partners in Switzerland and Europe. Site measurement, technical clarifications, fabrication and installation are supported by skilled teams, in private projects, company buildings or public institutions. Integrating textiles into lighting, acoustic and interior architectural concepts ensures solutions that are functionally and spatially ideal.

Sustainability & Care

Durable and responsibly produced materials are used: natural fibres, recycled fabrics and textiles with OEKO-TEX® or Cradle-to-Cradle certification. Even after the project is completed, teo jakob is available for care, cleaning or replacement, for example when re-upholstering an armchair, replacing a carpet or refurbishing curtains. The result is the creation of high-quality, functional and durable textile solutions.
