USM
Since 1972, teo jakob has been working with USM and that same year opened the world’s first USM specialist department. Today, we are among the most experienced dealers of the USM Haller system. Since 1999, the USM PlayLab in Bern has showcased typical configurations, ranging from the USM Sideboard to space-defining structures for living and working spaces.

Since 1999, the USM PlayLab in Bern has showcased typical configurations, ranging from the USM Sideboard to space-defining structures for living and working spaces.
System
The USM Haller system is built around a chrome-plated brass ball that links steel tubes and lacquered metal panels. This design enables, among other things, lowboards, sideboards, shelves, mobile pedestals or reception settings. Precision, clarity of form and repairability guarantee decades of use. The system is one of the defining modular furniture pieces of modern interior design.
Material Selection
In all showrooms, the full range of colours and components is available: pure white, graphite black, classic USM green, olive green and other shades, as well as various panel and tube formats. The selection is made within a spatial context and shows how USM modules function as part of an interior concept in living and working situations.
Planning
USM projects are supported from the initial idea to final assembly. Consulting experience, technical precision and in-house logistics form the basis. Since 2001, USM Haller has been part of the collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. At teo jakob, the system is understood as an adaptable structure that organises and further develops living and working spaces over the long term.
Realisation
Qualified experts implement the systems with precision, tailor them to existing architecture and furniture and guarantee considerations such as accessibility, fire safety and ergonomics. This results in modular room systems that can be expanded and adapted to new uses at any time, both in active company operations and in private spaces.
Modification
Second Cycle
Since autumn 2025, teo jakob has integrated inspected and refurbished second-hand USM furniture into new and existing projects. The modules originate from facilities whose requirements have changed. They undergo technical inspection, are reconfigured and are supplemented with original parts, if necessary. They offer a price advantage over new products and feature a documented material provenance.
