FLOS
Flos was founded in Merano in 1962 and is one of the defining manufacturers of Italian lighting design. In collaboration with Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni, luminaires were created that redefined technical solutions. «Arco» (1962) brings light over the table without a ceiling connection, via a cantilevered stainless steel arch with a Carrara marble base. «Taccia» uses a concave reflector with an adjustable glass diffuser for indirect light. «Snoopy» (1967) draws on the principle of the objet trouvé, and as an enamelled metal shade on a marble base resembles an abstracted everyday object. a bowling ball.
Today, Flos develops, alongside these classics, LED-based architectural luminaires as well as integrated systems with DALI or Casambi control.
teo jakob maintains a long-standing connection to the Castiglioni designs. Giovanna Castiglioni was a guest in Bern and spoke about her father’s work. In teo jakob’s showrooms, Flos luminaires are exhibited and incorporated into residential and commercial concepts for clients on a project-specific basis.
