Overlooking the Rooftops of Zurich

In 2020, teo jakob realised an interior architecture and furnishing concept for a penthouse in Zurich. Through precise spatial analysis, re-organisation of the kitchen and targeted interventions, an open living concept with panoramic views and direct access to the terrace was created.

Sloping ceilings, beams, supports and skylights required a detailed analysis of the spatial structure. The architect from teo jakob meticulously reviewed lines of sight, head heights and usage areas, and incorporated the client’s wishes from the outset. A major intervention was relocating the kitchen: The existing fireplace was removed, and the kitchen, featuring a kitchen island, was integrated into the living area. This resulted in a south-facing layout with beautiful views and direct access to the terrace. teo jakob managed the project holistically from renovation to furnishing, creating a penthouse that combines spaciousness, functionality and architectural clarity.

A solid wooden bed is accompanied by the «Conga» bedside tables from Schönbuch. Additionally, the «Lampe de Marseille mini» wall lamp by Nemo and the «Panthella mini» by Louis Poulsen provide atmospheric lighting.

«Penthouses require particularly precise planning. By carefully analysing ceiling heights, lines of sight and functional areas, we made the most of the existing structure and created a new sense of spaciousness.»

«When it came to furnishing, it was crucial to respond to the distinctive roof structure. With carefully selected classics and bespoke solutions, we were able not only to make optimal use of the sloping ceilings and niches, but also to emphasise them stylistically and give the space a clear identity.»
