Painting a Blank Canvas

teo jakob implemented the comprehensive redesign of a flat in Biel – covering everything from new furnishings to lighting to curtains. A harmonious living environment was created through a finely tuned colour and material concept and predominantly Minotti furniture, evoking the effect of art painted on a blank canvas.

For the redesign of this private flat in Biel, teo jakob was responsible for the integrated implementation of furnishings, lighting, and curtains. The starting point was a completely renovated flat, the atmosphere of which was defined in collaboration with the interior architect. Tone-on-tone beige hues, a walnut acoustic wall and premium materials create a warm, tranquil overall impression. Around 80 percent of the furnishings are from Minotti, highlighting the refined, timeless character of the spaces.

The «Daniels» sofa by Minotti forms a spacious seating area and defines the living space with understated elegance. Paired with the «Wedge Coffee Table», designed in 2019 by Oki Sato (born in 1977) of nendo for Minotti, it creates a calm, clear composition with a timeless effect.

The «Lawrence» bed, designed by Rodolfo Dordoni (1954–2023) for Minotti, is artfully arranged with the «Lou Nightstand», designed by Christophe Delcourt (born in 1966) for Minotti, and indirect lighting to create a harmonious, tranquil bedroom ensemble.

The wardrobe system provides organisation, structure and clear lighting direction.

«Like a blank canvas, it was about gradually creating an atmosphere. Materials, colours, light and furniture needed to be precisely co-ordinated so that a calm, timeless interior concept could emerge, one that supports everyday living.»
