Clearly zoned work environment

teo jakob innenarchitektur creates an open work environment with a clear structure in Bern Wankdorf.

teo jakob innenarchitektur has created a modern work environment at Holzbau Bern Wankdorf that brings openness, structure and identity together. The new commercial building at the key Bern Wankdorf transport hub, with its visible timber structure, provides the ideal setting for the new office spaces of OPO Oeschger AG’s Bern branch.

Across 230 m² of open office space, teo jakob innenarchitektur developed a clear yet lively office landscape. Three precisely integrated volumes guide the eye and create engaging sight lines. The workstations are located directly along the generously glazed facade. The closed meeting room and service zone are positioned in the core. Facing the planted access courtyard, the break-out area with kitchenette opens up as an inviting meeting point in everyday working life.

Green and grey tones pick up on the building’s timber structure and create a calm, fresh atmosphere. At the same time, OPO Oeschger’s recognisability is taken up and translated into a coherent spatial concept. The result is an interior fit-out that feels functional, high-quality and close to the brand.

All materials and surfaces meet the requirements of Minergie ECO. The design therefore supports a healthy indoor climate and the sustainable use of the new office space.

The «Tyde» meeting table, designed in 2017 by Ronan (born in 1971) and Erwan Bouroullec (born in 1976) for Vitra, is paired with the «Plastic Chair», designed in 1950 by Charles Eames (1907–1978) and Ray Eames (1912–1988) for Vitra.

The «TETA» shelving system by Bigla offers flexible storage solutions and clearly structures the office space.

In the breakout area, the «Plastic Chairs», designed in 1950 by Charles and Ray Eames for Vitra, are used and create an informal atmosphere.

The «Sloane» table, designed by Philipp Mainzer (born in 1963) for e15, is complemented by the «Strand» pendant lamp, created in 2020 by Benjamin Hubert (born in 1984) for Muuto, which adds a subtle lighting accent.

«It was important to us to create a clear spatial structure that provides orientation while at the same time allowing for openness. Carefully placed volumes and transparent lines of sight created a working environment with identity.»

«The choice of materials and the colour concept deliberately echo the building's timber supporting structure. This enabled us to combine architecture and furnishings into a coherent, sustainable overall concept.»
