A Historic Château Reimagined for Contemporary Learning

For the Château d’Hauteville of Pepperdine University, teo jakob developed a furnishing concept in 2023 that carefully connects historic architecture with contemporary academic life. The furnishings complement the restored interiors with understated elegance and functional precision.

The listed Château d’Hauteville on the Vaud Riviera was carefully restored by Glatz Delachaux Architectes Associés in Nyon and reinterpreted for use by Pepperdine University. Today, the 18th century building accommodates classrooms, administrative areas and student bedrooms. In 2023, teo jakob developed a furnishing concept specifically tailored to the historic architecture and the needs of a contemporary university environment. The selected furnishings respond sensitively to the original décor, tapestries and woodwork while preserving the character of the château. For the differently proportioned bedrooms, customised furniture solutions were developed according to the dimensions and functions of each space. The result is a harmonious interior concept that balances heritage, comfort and modern educational use.

Students can take a seat at the long wooden table in the library to study in peace.

The bunk beds in the bedrooms are from an existing collection by a Swiss manufacturer and have been adapted to fit the dimensions of each room.
