A Cosy Atmosphere with Strict Requirements

For the Blumenrain Residential and Care Centre in Zollikon, teo jakob developed a furnishing concept that balances stringent requirements for safety, hygiene and fire protection with a cosiness and a high-quality environment.

In care and nursing facilities, safety and fire protection standards play a central role: escape routes, material specifications, flame-retardant fabrics, as well as age-appropriate seat heights and armrests, had to be meticulously addressed. The challenge lay in creating a welcoming atmosphere despite these requirements. With this project, teo jakob demonstrates its expertise in furnishing care and residential buildings, where regulatory requirements and cosy design are equally balanced.

The «F/08 Flankenschnittstuhl» wooden chair with side cutouts by Schindler Salmerón impresses with its high-quality craftsmanship and clean lines. A robust chair that unites functionality with a homely feel.

The «Neptunus» armchair, designed by Åke Axelsson (born in 1932) for Gärsnäs, combines comfort with Scandinavian restraint. The ensemble is complemented by the «Ginger» wall lamp, designed by Joan Gaspar (born in 1966) for Marset, which creates a calm atmosphere with warm, indirect light.

The «S 830» armchair, designed by Emilia Becker for Thonet, represents pared-back design and excellent seating comfort. Its clean lines naturally blend into public lounge areas.

«Our aim was to create an atmosphere that conveys tranquillity and puts people at the centre, despite clear functional and safety requirements.»
