Mediterranean atmosphere

For the Migros Restaurant at the Balexert shopping centre in Geneva, teo jakob developed a furnishing concept in 2021 inspired by Mediterranean atmosphere and contemporary hospitality. Organic forms, warm colours and custom-made elements create an inviting dining experience with a strong identity.

At the Balexert shopping centre in Geneva, teo jakob developed the furnishing concept in 2021 for French-speaking Switzerland’s largest restaurant. In collaboration with architect Rachel Humbert Vuarchex, the project combines Mediterranean lightness with the functional demands of a highly frequented public space. All furniture was manufactured in Italy and defines the restaurant atmosphere through warm tones, organically shaped tables and deliberately mismatched chairs. Custom-made benches and plant partitions structure the large dining area while creating comfort and a greater sense of privacy. teo jakob developed an interior concept that reinterprets the spirit of the traditional cucina in a contemporary way while fully complying with Geneva’s strict public fire safety regulations. The result is a restaurant environment that harmoniously combines design, functionality and hospitality.

«Our goal was to give this large public restaurant a warm and distinctive atmosphere. Through the combination of organic shapes, carefully coordinated colours and custom-made elements, we created a space defined by Mediterranean lightness and a strong sense of hospitality.»
